Prime Minister Mr.Srettha Thavisin presided over the award ceremony where the Thai national team, along with their coaches and sports association, received a total prize money of 3,750,000 Baht from the National Sports Development Fund. The team's exceptional performance garnered 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.
On November 7th, 2023, at the Government House, Prime Minister Mr Srettha Thavisin hosted a celebratory event, extending his congratulations to the athletes, coaches, and sports officials who participated in the 19th Asian Games and the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China. The event also saw the presence of Thailand Amatuer Weightlifting association executives, including General Yotsanan Raicharoen, Vice President of the Sports Association, and Dr.Sirilak Tadmun, Deputy Secretary-General, as well as the Foreign Affairs Chairman.
The Thai delegation, consisting of 14 athletes, clinched 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals. The silver was won by Weeraphon Wichuma, in the 73kg category, and the bronze medals were secured byThanyathon Sukcharoen in the 49kg women's category, Sarat Sumpradit in the 96kg men's category, and Duangaksorn Chaidee in the over 87kg women's category. The athletes, coaches, and sports associations collectively received 3,750,000 Baht in prize money, following the criteria set by the National Sports Development Fund, which includes 2 million Baht for a gold medal, 1 million Baht for a silver medal, and 500,000 Baht for a bronze medal. Additionally, the coaches and sports associations were also awarded prize money.
Overall, the Thai national team and the Thai para-athletes received a total prize money of 353,925,000 Baht, including 12 gold, 14 silver, and 32 bronze medals in the 19th Asian Games, earning them the 8th spot in the overall medal tally, with a total prize money of 244,200,000 Baht. They also secured 27 gold, 26 silver, and 55 bronze medals in the 4th Asian Para Games, earning them the 7th spot in the overall medal tally, with a total prize money of 109,725,000 Baht.
Prachya Keeratinan, the President of the Thailand Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA), presented a framed portrait to honor and extend congratulations to Major General Intharat Yodbangtoey, Honorary President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), on the occasion of his appointment to the esteemed position. Maj. Gen. Intharat Yodbangtoey has been actively promoting weightlifting both nationally and internationally for over 30 years and was awarded an Honorary Medal for his dedication to the sport.
The board members of the Weightlifting Association of Thailand expressed their felicitations during the executive committee meeting held on October 26th, 2023, at Room 217, Rajamangala National Stadium, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
